20091001 2326 Dow Jones at this moment is down >1% after breaking support, not looking good, could be down close to 2% by closing. When the USD strengthens, some unwinding of the carry trade is happening, equities get sold off... such is the state of affairs. Central bank ed Fed keep interest on usd at zero, which is supposed to stimulate the real economy, however market players use this to borrow usd at zero then put into higher risk currencies and equities, fuelling the rally in stocks... the bubble builds with no benefit to the real economy.
